Open house at Emmaus Hampshire

Emmaus Hampshire opened their doors to the public on 3rd March. About 600 local people seized the opportunity to have a look round the new Emmaus Community which has been taking shape at Bar End Road, Winchester.

Excited visitors and supporters toured Companion rooms and bright, spacious communal areas, seeing the furniture donated by Ikea and assembled by local Girl Guides.

Terry Waite and Alison Thompson, President of Emmaus and Chair of Emmaus Hampshire trustees, spoke to visitors about their hopes and aspirations for the new Community.

Over the next few weeks, formerly homeless people will be moving in to live at Emmaus Hampshire and work in the Community re-cycling business, alongside Companions from some of the other 18 Emmaus Communities in the UK who will bring their experience and skills to the new project.
