Emmaus Liverpool is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, governed by an experienced Board of Trustees. The Group has been meeting for many years and were affiliated to Emmaus UK in June 2003. They have spent a considerable amount of time trying to secure a site for the Community. A detailed business plan has been developed. In this section you can read more about the current board of trustees.

Current Trustees

Of the current Board of Trustees, four trustees have substantial experience between them in surveying, planning, property development, including construction, cost analysis and property law.

Graham Parker, Chair
Until his recent retirement, Graham was Managing Director of Sayers of Liverpool; Director of Corporate and Community Affairs at United Biscuits (UK) Limited; Chairman of the finance and Audit Committee at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital; Chairman of the Prince's Trust (Business) Merseyside; Chairman of St-Martin-in-the-Fields Enterprise Limited. He continues to be a Non Executive Director of a NHS Trust Board (a position he has held since 1992) and a Director of Liverpool Housing Action Trust.

Ann Milling MBE, Deputy Chair
Ann's career was in social work, particularly in the field of drug addiction and mental health problems. Ann was a founder and Chairperson of Shado, a charity at the forefront of working with families suffering from the effects of having family members addicted to drugs. Ann's commitment and enthusiasm to serving the communities of Liverpool have attracted people of great standing in the wider community, including our Patron Cherie Booth QC.

Craig Russell FCA, Company Secretary and Treasurer
Craig was previously the Finance Director of Nightfreight plc, a nationwide parcel delivery firm

Dr Rob Toomey ACMA
Rob is a qualified accountant with extensive experience working in venture capital and SME's. He is Chairman of the Investment Panel of the Merseyside Special Investment Fund (a £110m local venture capital firm), Non-Executive of Edward Billington and Son (the Liverpool based food company) and is a Non-Executive Director number of other businesses.

Dr Daniel Brawn FCIArb FRGS
Daniel is a solicitor and non-practising barrister, specialising in a construction projects. Before becoming a lawyer, Daniel worked with single homeless people in central London, mostly for Patchwork Community Housing Association providing accomodation on a shared and supportive basis to single homeless people.

Canon Neville Black MBE
Neville is a retired Anglican Vicar. He spent 40 years working in 3 inner city parishes in Everton and Toxteth. He was involved in a non-exec capacity in homelessness, having been chair and board member for ten years each of the City of Liverpool YMCA and the Liverpool Housing Trust.

Volunteers

John Waterworth
John is currently doing a Masters course in Cultural HIstory at the University of Liverpool. He has always had an interest in social work, and has previously helped out at Asylum Link in Liverpool. His work here led him to meet Liverpool MP Louise Ellman to discuss fairer treatment for asylum seekers. John joined Emmaus two years ago, and has worked to update the website and produce the newsletter. He is also responsible for taking minutes at their monthly meetings.
