Emmaus is a charity which offers previously homeless people a home, work and the chance to regain self respect in a supportive community environment. Residents work full time in a Community business, collecting, renovating and re-selling donated furniture through our Community shops. All Emmaus Communities aim to generate sufficient income to ensure that they are financially self-sufficient within 3-5 years of opening. There are currently 15 Emmaus communities across the UK. We are seeking people to join our committee to work with us to build an Emmaus Community in Preston.
Emmaus Preston is seeking to recruit a Volunteer Fundraiser who will help the organisation to raise the remaining capital costs to complete the renovation of their building and revenue funding to support start up costs for the first 3-5 years of operation. The role enables you to use your professional/management skills to help with running a charity. You will have existing skills in fundraising for charities and will be willing to learn new methods and techniques if required. Shorter term volunteer project work is also available if you do not have the time to commit on a long term basis. Knowledge of the Preston area would be an advantage. We offer all volunteers support and a comprehensive training programme.
