Emmaus Greenwich celebrate official recognition of all round excellence.
Terry Waite, President of Emmaus UK, visited Emmaus Greenwich on 5th January to join with them in celebrating their success at being awarded ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and FRNE status.
This means that Emmaus Greenwich consistently meets high standards across a whole range of activities: business and administration; health and safety and collection and reuse services.
Far from being a mere 'rubber stamp' of approval, the quality assurance award is only gained after a rigourous assessment procedure. Terry Waite praised the Staff and Companions at Emmaus Greenwich for their commitment and hard work in attaining the coveted accreditation, adding, "Emmaus works. It enables people to get back on their feet and regain their dignity as human beings."
With the quality of their operation and services now certified, Emmaus Greenwich have postioned themselves to take full advantage of opportunities to work with private and public sector efforts to increase re-use and recycling in SE London.
