French Ambassador Pays a visit

On 16th November, Mr Gerard Errera, the French Ambassador visited Emmaus Greenwich.

Although Emmaus is a household name in France, it is less well known here and the Ambassador is keen to support the charity and help raise its profile.

In June of this year Mr Errera hosted a reception at his residence to celebrate the Emmaus Movement and he wanted to come to Emmaus Greenwich so that he could see the work that Emmaus does at first hand. Mr Errera said, ‘Emmaus has a unique solution to the problem of homelessness. The people who live in Emmaus Communities not only get support from staff and peers but are also offered the opportunity to work for themselves and for others. It restores in the residents a sense of self respect and optimism.’
The Ambassador was shown around the accommodation and shop at Emmaus Greenwich and talked to Companions and staff about what it is like to live and work in a Community.
