What we can take

We collect most household items. Unfortunately we cannot take all items offered to us. Please check our guidline below.

To protect the health and safety of our memebers, WE DO NOT MOVE ITEMS EITHER UP OR DOWN STAIRS when collecting or delivering. Please make sure you have arranged for items to be moved to or from a ground floor entry point.

Desirable Donations

All items should be in a good, clean condition ready for resale. Torn, marked, stained, woodworm items can not be accepted.Unfortunately from time to time we may have to refuse a donation of items
we normally accept due to limited storage space or overstock.

Occasional furniture
White goods (fridges, cookers, washers, dryers, dishwashers)

Household Linen
Records, CDs, Tapes,
DVDs, Videos
Tools
Toys (with a valid CE Safety Mark); Exceptions to CE Mark are well known and branded collectables such as Fisherprice, MacDonald’s toys, and Barbie)

*Please note the following restrictions apply on certain items: *

All soft furnishings (sofas, chairs) must meet the 1988 Fire Regulations (Fire label on item)
All electricals must be in full working order and be safe to use
All beds and mattresses must meet the 1996 Fire Regulations (Fire label on item)
Electrical beds must be pre-approved
All televisions, videos and DVD players must have a remote control and SCART socket
All stereos must have a remote control
Fridges must be able to seal (no cracks or split in seal) and free of rust
Furniture with glass parts should be inspected for safety glass

Unacceptable Donations for Resale

Some items are unacceptable for resale and we dispose of them which incurs costs to our charity.
Please avoid donating these items.

We can not accept any of these items:

Any item that takes more than two people to lift
Wall units and sideboards with top units greater than 4-feet in width
Electrical blankets
Clothes Iron that have aluminium bases (stainless steel and Teflon okay)
Baby furniture (prams, pushchairs, cots, highchairs)
Pianos or Electric Organs
Computer Equipment (monitors, pc’s)
Large Office Furniture
Exercise Equipment
Photocopiers and Fax Machines
Gas Bottles
Tins containing paraffin, petrol or any other inflammables
Old tins of paint
Fur coats
Children’s Anoraks if they have a hood secured by a cord that passes through material
Nightwear that does not have a fire resistance label
Any type of safety / protective equipment (ie helmets)
Home recorded cassettes and videos
Firearms, sharp knives, or weapons
