Radio 4's Libby Purves visits new building
BBC Radio 4 presenter Libby Purves paid a visit to Emmaus Colchester's new Community building last Friday, the 25th April. Libby is a well known broadcaster, who presents Midweek on Radio 4, and is also a journalist who writes a regular column for the Times newspaper. Libby met with Colchester Trustees, and our new Community Leader, Fiona Broom, before speaking with members of the local press to help explain how Companions will live and work in the new buiding, and the huge benefits of Colchester Emmaus to the local area.
Libby is an enthusiastic supporter of Emmaus, and has much knowledge of the difficult issues that homeless people face. Although the Colchester building will not be completed until the Autumn, Libby was very impressed;
"The quality of the building and the rooms the companions will live in is very high, and you can see that it'll be a peaceful place to live and recover from the strain of being homeless".
