Linklaters staff volunteer for a day of DIY
On a cold, wet day in January, a brave group of volunteers swapped their comfortable office jobs for a day of hardcore DIY at Emmaus Colchester.
The volunteers all came from the Colchester office of the international law firm, Linklaters, who kindly allow all their staff a day of holiday once a year to volunteer with the charity of their choice. We are very grateful that they chose to volunteer at Emmaus. The group enthusiastically set to work, cleaning and sanding old woodwork on our counter, repainting the concrete floor out in the shop, applying damp-proof paint to the walls of our kitchen, applying new concrete to areas of the shop floor, and even getting to work with power tools in order to fix a wonky drainpipe!

We would like to thank everyone who volunteered with us on that day. They arrived for the day full of enthusiasm and energy, and didn't leave until all the work was completed. Although they went home cold, wet, tired and dusty, we like to think they enjoyed themselves, and hope to see them again soon!
