Our goal was to set up an Emmaus Community for up to 20 homeless people in the Colchester area and this we achieved with the opening of the Community Home in August 2008. In this section, you can read more about:

Trustees

Richard Spooner - Chair since 2001 and Treasurer of Emmaus Colchester since 2000, Richard was re-elected at the recent AGM. Richard is also a trustee of Emmaus UK. He was managing director of a computer software and services company from 1986-1999, is a trustee of Equitas Trust, a non-executive director of insurance company Equitas Ltd and chairman of Euractiv.com plc, a media company.

Charles Ince - A Trustee since 2004 and also recently re-elected. Charles is a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Quantity Surveyors and has spent his career in construction and development.For most of his working life he has been based in the Colchester area and recently sold his interest in a local construction company.

Paul Douglas - Paulran his own company, Palladian Press, for the last eleven years having worked in the graphic, print and communications industry since leaving school. His company employed 32 staff and won the prestigious 'Growing Business of the Year 2006' award sponsored by Barclays.

Libby Arnold - Libby has been a Trustee since May 2010. Until recently Libby has run her own HR and Health and Safety Consultancy offering an on-going service to small companies who have no in-house expertise and additional support to larger companies. Libby has over 30 years of experience of HR and people development experience.

Sue Nice - Sue has recently joined as a Trustee. Sue works for Colchester Borough Homes in the Tenancy Enforcement and Support Team. She has 25 years of experience working within the field of housing and homelessness.

Staff

Keith Henrick - General Manager. Joined the Charity in December 2008 initially as Administrator but moved into combined role of Administrator/Business Manager and then General Manager. Keith brings many years experience in Corporate Banking and former Director of a property development company.

Fiona Broom - Community Leader at Emmaus Colchester since April 2008, Fiona leads and manages the Companions at the Colchester Community bulding. Fiona established a founding group of Companions and is responsible for the residents' day-to-day welfare and development. Fiona has twelve years experience of working with homeless people in the local area.

Ecky Prolingheuer - Deputy Leader since August 2008. Previously many years experience in the Probation Service and with working with disadvantaged people.

Anita Cleary - Administrator joined in April 2009 following the succesful expansion of the outlets for donated goods.Anita deals with all the day to day finance.

Greg Davidson - Greg has recently joined us as Business Manager. He will be helping us to improve sales in the Warehouse and Shop as well as encouraging the Companions to gain valuable work experience and training. Greg is an experienced senior manager with years of experience in the airport industry.
