Trustees

Richard Spooner - Chair since 2001 and Treasurer of Emmaus Colchester since 2000. Richard is also a trustee of Emmaus UK. He was managing director of a computer software and services company from 1986-1999, is a trustee of Equitas Trust, a non-executive director of insurance company Equitas Ltd and chairman of Euractiv.com plc, a media company.

David Goss - A trustee since 2005.David is a lawyer with Thompson Smith & Puxon in Colchester. He is a Trustee of Colchester & North East Essex Building Preservation Trust and former Trustee of First Site, a contemporary visual arts organisation.He is a former Colchester Borough Councillor, was Chairman of the Planning Committee for ten years and chaired a number of other Council committees.

Charles Ince - A Trustee since 2004. Charles is a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Quantity Surveyors and has spent his career in construction and development.For most of his working life he has been based in the Colchester area and recently sold his interest in a local construction company.

Lynne McKay - A Trustee since 2005.Lynne has worked for the Essex Probation Service for over 30 years where she now works as Communications Manager. She is responsible for communications strategy and planning, media work at international, national and local level, speech writing and briefings, parliamentary liaison, events management, publications and internet-based information.

Peter Riches - A Trustee since 2001. Peter is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a partner of Morley Riches and Ablewhite, Colchester Chartered Surveyors. Peter worked in the Property Investment Department of Royal London Insurance between 1981 and 1986 when he moved into private practice. He formed his own practice in 2001.

Paul Douglas - A Trustee since 2005, Paul has run his own company, Palladian Press, for the last eleven years having worked in the graphic, print and communications industry since leaving school. His company currently employs 32 staff and has recently won the prestigious 'Growing Business of the Year 2006' award sponsored by Barclays.

Tina Bowers - A new member to our board of Trustees, Tina comes to us with a wealth of experience in accounts and finance. With an advisory background, Tina is a much welcomed and valued addition to our board.

A Fundraising Development Board will be recruited in the near future which will report to the Trustees.

Staff

Lesley Corner - Project Director since November 2003 working with the Trustees to develop a Community in Colchester. Lesley has particular responsibility for fundraising and PR and is a member of the Institute of Fundraising and of Fifth Estate, the voluntary sector group of the Institute of Public Relations. She has over 12 years’ experience of fundraising, PR and marketing in the voluntary sector and was Head of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Essex for five years from 1998-2003.

Jennifer Turnbull- Administrative Assistant since November 2007. Jennifer assists the Project Director in areas of fundraising and PR. Jennifer has over ten years experience of administrative office environments.

Fiona Broom - Community Leader at Emmaus Colchester since April 2008, Fiona leads and manages the Companions at the Colchester Community bulding, together with overseeing the furniture shop. Fiona established a founding group of Companions and is responsible for the residents' day-to-day welfare and development. Fiona has twelve years experience of working with homeless people in the local area.

Ecky Prolingheuer - Deputy Leader since August 2008.
