Burnley Building Solidarity Links

It has now been six months since Emmaus Burnley welcomed its first Companions, and they have certainly been busy as the Community and the Second Hand Superstore have opened almost simultaneously. However, Emmaus is about more than just helping one's own Community, and in July and August Emmaus Burnley will be represented by Companions at national events for the first time.

On July 16th Emmaus Cambridge are running a Solidarity Sale, to which all Emmaus Communities are invited to run a stall made up of items from their respective shops, with all proceeds going towards providing clean drinking water in South America. The Burnley and Preston Communities will be running a joint stall at the event and Companions from Burnley are excited to be able to contribute to a national solidarity initiative for the first time.

Then in August Emmaus Burnley will be represented by Companions at the Emmaus Federation Assembly for the first time. The Assembly is a chance to meet people from Communities and Groups throughout the UK, and share stories and experiences with others. The Burnley Companions who will be attending the Assembly are both relatively new to Emmaus and the event should be a great experience for them.
