Purchase of Residential Site Completed

In early August after many delays Emmaus Burnley were finally able to take possession of Booth Court, their newly purchased property which will be the residential site for Emmaus Burnley companions.

Renovation work on the building, formerly sheltered housing for elderly people, will start soon; with the flats being converted into rooms which will be able to house companions and promote the ethos of Emmaus. There will also be six move-on flats and live-in quarters for the Community Leader.

We hope to welcome our first companions in mid-2010 and will be able to provide housing for up to 36 formerly homeless people.

Pictured is Emmaus Burnley Chair, Peter Pike, on the day we received the keys to the premises.
