Postcard from "Waddow"
On sunny Spring Holiday Sunday, a pleasant drive to a surprise rendezvous established new contacts with another generous gift of 7 teapots for the Paris Salon.
"Waddow" is a riverside Girl-Guiding Adventure Centre at Waddow Hall, near Clitheroe, in the beautiful Ribble Valley. There I met Val, a Guiding Leader, who expressed an interest in helping Emmaus Burnley, as she handed over the last consignment of teapots in our series of events, "Going Potty over Paris" - a partnership between Pendleside Hospice and Emmaus Burnley.
It was only then that I realised that our meeting was a sequel to the very successful "Tea at 3" event, hosted by the Mothers' Union at St Peter's Parish Church, Burnley, a week earlier.
On that occasion, there was a sensitive presentation about the palliative care offered at Pendleside Hospice, which would benefit from the proceeds of the "Tea at 3" party. Similarly, Emmaus Burnley and the Emmaus Movement will benefit from the donated teapots for its 60th Annivesary Sale at Paris Salon on June 14th. Their presentation highlighted the work of Emmaus International, illustrating how it connected with the Annual Sale and all 300 Groups, including Emmaus Burnley.

Our letter of appreciation to the Mothers' Union, as Hosts, says, "You have piloted this concept,....... Both parties have agreed to further partnership working, because your event has proven the concept viable and worthy of continuation."
