Welcome to Emmaus Bristol

Our Community

The Emmaus Bristol Community is home to 23 men and women who were formerly homeless.

Our 23 Companions, as people who live in Emmaus Communities are known, support themselves by running a successful recycling and re-use business from 2 retail outlets.

Emmaus Bristol is one of 20 Emmaus Communities in the UK, and a member of Emmaus International.

Our ethos

We believe that people who are homeless and socially excluded have something to offer.

When people join us at Emmaus they often need support to deal with difficult issues in their lives. We give that support, we give them meaningful work and we give them opportunities for personal development through helping others.

We have close links with other local organisations that support people who are homeless or trapped by poverty. Emmaus Bristol Companions help with the Neighbourhood Watch, the Soup Run and a local retirement home. Further afield, Companions have worked on Emmaus International projects in Bosnia and Benin.
