ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS (HASTINGS & ROTHER)
Emmaus Brighton & Hove are pleased to be supporting the opening of a new Emmaus Community in Hastings & Rother which will eventually be able to accommodate 23 Companions.
Planning permission has been granted for the new site to open for business as an Emmaus second hand furniture store and to build accommodation for 23 Companions and a staff flat.
Three Companions from Emmaus Brighton & Hove will be walking or cycling the forty miles from the Emmaus Community in Portslade to Hastings where they aim to arrive at 4 pm on Monday 17 th August on the day that ownership of the property changes hands and that the representatives of the present owner, Southern Water, will be handing over the keys to the building to the three Companion, who will formally open it up for its new use by Emmaus Hastings & Rother.
It is hoped that with the help and support of the Emmaus Brighton & Hove Community that the Hastings & Rother second-hand superstore will be opening for business in September 2009.
The Brighton Companions Jon, Alistair and Ross have been busy getting sponsors to help raise funds for the new group in Hastings.
