Carluccio brings Italian flavour to Emmaus
On 27th May the Godfather of Italian cooking Antonio Carluccio visited Emmaus Brighton and Hove to share his culinary skills with Companions. Afterwards, Companions Kat, Martin and Vicki chatted with Carluccio.
Antonio said,“I have great admiration for Emmaus and the fantastic work they do, giving self respect back to thousands of people. The Companions do a great job refurbishing and selling donated furniture and need healthy food to keep them going."
With his guidance, Companions prepared a tasty Italian lunch of La Parmigiana di Melanzane (baked aubergine with tomatoes and cheese) and green salad, followed by Tiramisu. The results were enjoyed by staff, volunteers and Companions when they all ate lunch together.
It was Antonio's second foray into an Emmaus kitchen. In December 2008 he visited Emmaus South Lambeth and cooked a meal with Companions. After this latest visit he said, "I was delighted to be invited to cook with the Companions in Brighton and enjoyed sharing some time and good food with what has grown into a wonderful Community.”
