What is Share giving?

If you own shares in a company, you can donate them to Emmaus and make a lasting investment in our long-term solution to homelessness.

A donation of shares will enable Emmaus to help develop new Communities across the UK, supporting self-help social enterprises with substantial social, economical and environmental rewards.

Donating your shares to Emmaus is not only a great way to help the homeless, but it could also be a shrewd financial decision - it's one of the most tax-effective ways you can give, as you won't have to pay any capital gains tax on the shares you donate and you can claim income tax relief too.

As Emmaus is a small charity we cannot deal directly with share giving.

There are two ways to donate shares to Emmaus;

Donate through CAF - The Charities Aid Foundation can sell your shares and pass the proceeds on to Emmaus. You can either nominate us to receive the income directly or ask for the proceeds to be put into you CAF account and send us the donation from your acount. CAF do take a small commission to cover the cost of selling your shares but the majority of the Share value will come directly to Emmaus. Please visit the CAF website for more information.

Sell the Shares - If you have the resources to sell the shares yourself Emmaus would be very pleased to receive a cash gift.
