Fundraising Events

Challenges

Our past and current fundraisers have walked across Britain, trekked to Everest Base Camp and run marathons. You could do anything that really challenges you from abseiling to sea kayaking, swimming the English Channel to jumping out of airplanes. Can you take up your challenge for Emmaus?

Emmaus supporter Janine has been involved with us for several years. She climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in October and raised an impressive £600 after creating a fundraising page just three days before she left! "Emmaus is a fantastic charity with proven results and I would encourage you all to find out more about them if you can".

To collect donations for a sponsored event, you can set up a page for your event on Justgiving.com. All donations will come directly to Emmaus; they also collect gift aid for UK taxpayers! We will help you make the most out of your justgiving page and offer Fundraising hints and tips to ensure your event is a success.

Our inspirational fundraisers

The stories below are from our past and current fundraisers:

Angie & Sophie Cornell - In October 2011, Angie & Sophie trekked across the deserts of Jordan and raised money more than £1,200 to help Emmaus Medway to get up and running.

They said, "Trekking Jordan to raise money for Emmaus Medway was a challenging but rewarding experience. Although hair-raising at times - sheer drops, narrow ledges, intense heat and freezing nights - it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we will never forget. People's generosity, both financially and in their friendship and support, has been touching and encouraging. As we walked into Petra sporting three days of desert dirt, sand and sweat we felt that we had truly earned every penny and are so happy that this money will help support Emmaus in their early days in the Medway towns."

Moira Hunter - Moira spent Christmas trekking up to Everest Base camp, despite not having spent a single night under canvas before her trip! She braved the tough trek and freezing temperatures to raise over £2,500 for Emmaus Hampshire. She says, "it is amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it and the knowledge that it's for a great cause really spurs you on."

Nicholas Gibbins - In October Nick ran the 56 miles from London to Brighton to raise money for his local Emmaus Group in Medway. He was one of only 81 finishers out of 187 entrants in the race, "This was definitely one of the hardest things I've ever attempted but with the help and support of Hayley, my family and friends, I finished in 13.08hrs".
